It's no secret that Switchblade Creative Studios has big hearts for animals. Our involvement with the local animal shelters and local rescue groups led us to an amazing opportunity to show our talent for Oct 5's Muttville Benefit featuring Gogol Bordello at Slim's SF. Switchblade designed the limited edition poster for the event, and only 100 were sold and one copy signed by the band was raffled.
Marie Macaspac of Switchblade, who is a foster care provider for Muttville, a senior dog rescue, was interviewed on Pirate Cat Radio to talk about the event and our involvement with the organization. Check it out!

JULY 20, 2008 - GRANTS, NEW MEXICO, In its ongoing mission to promote its brand and support amateur athletes at the grass roots level, Switchblade Creative Studios Inc. a creative design studio, helped send three amateur Mixed Martial Arts fighters to their first bout this month in Grants, New Mexico. The event “Que Loca Cage Fighting” is one of many amateur events held nation-wide which helps springboard amateur fighters to the bigger leagues such as the UFC and the WEC in one of the fastest growing sports today. Switchblade provided financial support to help the fighters reach their goal.
The three fighters who train out of Combat Fitness/Rapacon's Martial Arts facility in Vallejo, CA trained hard for their first fight and did not disappoint their fans, coaches and sponsors. The fighters and results:
- Cris De Luna, Welterweight-Winner by submission/arm bar,
- Tristan Arenal, Middleweight-Winner by unanimous decision,
- Tony Ramos, Bantamweight-Loss by arm bar/stoppage (no tapout).
Switchblade Creative Director Ron Zaragoza commented, “we are extremely excited to help these guys get to their first bout... It's not the blood sport that most people think. MMA is as serious as any Olympic event and takes as much dedication and training to be good at it. As a fan and as part of our mission, our sponsorship is a great opportunity for us to help these up-and-coming athletes achieve their goals. We're hoping that this will be the first of many athletes we sponsor. We're looking at other extreme athletes such as skateboarders and BMX riders who are serious about their athletic goals and want to succeed.” Part of Switchblade Creative Studios Inc.'s mission is to give back to the community and to promote healthy active lifestyles. Switchblade staff member Kelly Kalagayan adds, “We do volunteer work for the homeless and pro-bono design work for non-profits so this is just another fun and creative way that we can help out!”
Combat Fitness co-owner Rick Dichoco stated, “Combat Fitness' fighters are very thankful and encouraged to know that a company such as Switchblade (Creative Studios, Inc). is willing to provide support. Now, they have experienced what it's like to be a part of determined fight team and given a glimpse of a career as professional fighters.” Head coach, Roque Rapacon, currently trains in MMA with UFC legend Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Hawaiian Kenpo /The PIT founder John Hackleman. With those credentials alone we're hoping to see more talented athletes from Combat Fitness and “Team Switchblade”.
SWITCHBLADE CREATIVE STUDIOS TEAMS WITH CAPCOM USA
SAN MATEO CA - APRIL 2008 Videogame publisher and entertainment giant Capcom USA recently commissioned Switchblade Creative Studios to work on their XBOX LIVE and PlayStation Network digital assets. The multi-title project includes creating original web banners, Flash banner ads, and custom wallpapers which will be available for purchase and download on both XBOX LIVE and PlayStation Network. “We’re extremely excited to be working on this project with Capcom” says Switchblade Design Manager Courtney Patubo. She adds,“We all grew up playing Street Fighter so being able to work on these assets is really cool”. Capcom is primarily known for its Street Fighter games and intellectual properties and has even produced major blockbuster films based on the titles. Switchblade Production artist Kelly Kalagayan comments “It’s pretty gratifying to know that our work will be viewed by millions of XBOX LIVE and PSN members. A great start to hopefully a long working relationship with Capcom!”
