Where there is design, there is Photoshop. It is the tool for print, web design and photography enhancements and in the last two years, it has become the perfect tool for designing iPhone application interfaces. Whether you are part of an iPhone app project or want to design an iPhone app on your own, you need to understand the design intricacies of this new medium and adapt your Photoshop skills to create a successful iPhone app.

On Thursday, February 4th at 6:30 p.m., Marine Leroux of Bamboudesign Inc. will show how easy it is to design iPhone apps efficiently with Photoshop. Through a step by step method combined with tips for smart user experience design, she’ll guide you from sketching an app interface to designing it in Photoshop, building libraries and template files to expedite the design process. She’ll define Apple’s design requirements and the workflow between design, development, and publishing of an iPhone app to the App Store.

RSVP online to learn how to design iPhone apps with Photoshop.

Adam Jerugim, the speaker at this evening’s meetup, has been part of the Photoshop engineering team for the last 10 years and is mainly responsible for performance and hardware compatibility testing.  He provided very detailed information on how to get the most of Photoshop in his presentation “Optimizing Photoshop for Peak Performance” (6.5 MB PDF) and we look forward to his guest blog to be posted here soon.

We would also like to express our gratitude to our “Photoshop Til You Drop” Sponsor, AMD, for their continued support in providing beverages, snacks, and raffle items for our meeting.

Stay tuned for more information on our Meetup in January with guest speaker Marine Leroux who will provide insight on utilizing Photoshop to design for iPhone apps!

We wanted to try something different than previous meetings by holding a Happy Hour and Member Showcase on October 21st. Our main objective is to provide expert speakers and topics of interest to our Photoshop community, but as we grow in size, we’ve become a strong community for networking and sharing opportunities for business, employment, events, and even friendship! The objective of these Happy Hour and Member Showcases would be to encourage such networking.

Would you like these type of meetings to be regularly scheduled? Any thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome.

As you may know, funds are donated by sponsors, and with these funds we are able to provide beverages and snacks during meetings. We are happy to announce that AMD has been generous in offering to sponsor our group from October 2009 through March 2010. With their sponsorship, we are able to provide light appetizers and drinks.

Additionally, they have also donated some awesome raffle prizes!

Thank you, Kim White and AMD!
